WHY ISLAMIC PRESCHOOL LAHORE (IPL)?

Education should be holistic, schooling should be filled with surprises and challenges and most of all learning should be fun. Lessons must be thought-evoking, hands-on and the teachers must encourage students to think beyond the given. Opportunities must be provided to students to experience by doing and/or visualizing everything they learn. Students must have a strong character based on the value system introduced by Islam consequently furnishing them with the dexterity to apply knowledge and skills acquired at school, to make life better for themselves and the world at large. Exams should be a tool for assessing learners’ wisdom, not their memories. This will trigger the thirst for knowledge in children’s’ minds, leading to active thinking, consequently producing “doers” who are “leaders”, who innovate and discover with the underlying aim to benefit the society at large.
This is how education is designed at Islamic Preschool Lahore (IPL). Education at IPL is about individuals’ distinctive thoughts and opinions. Our education system thus produces innovative, thoughtful minds, individuals who are apt for securing positions at best universities in the world and successfully lead from the front in their respective fields of work with a strong character that inspires.
To achieve this, we have designed a state of the art curriculum incorporating the Cambridge Primary Curriculum (Leading to O’Levels and A’Levels) to our philosophy of learning at school. This curriculum is taught by excellent, experienced and dedicated teachers. While our curriculum is based on the most modern “project based learning” methodology, it also ensures that the love of the Deen e Islam increases within the hearts of our students incorporating a sense of identity within them as Muslims and the understanding of the responsibilities this title brings with it. Our most modern curriculum is also complemented by our state of the art campus with facilities including Smart Boards in every classroom, modern Information Technology Lab and Nature Studio among many other modern educational facilities.
We want our children to graduate from our school with a sense of profound association to their Islamic identity fortified with the knowledge, skills and confidence to become the instrument of positive change in their lives and the world around them. We want our children to achieve increased responsibility and leadership for the conduct of their lives and learning, supporting their broader development as resilient, creative individuals, active citizens and enterprising leaders in the society within which they live.

AREAS OF LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT:

Islamic Learning:
The paradigm of perfection is the Prophet ﷺ, and thus the goal of Islamic Learning at IPL is for our students to live as he ﷺ lived and to imitate him ﷺ. To achieve this, we have developed an environment within our school that promotes a sense of belonging to the Islamic ideology as practiced by our beloved Prophet ﷺ and the Sahabas رضي الله عنه. We teach our students how to live a life focused around the noble characteristics of our beloved Prophet’s ﷺ life. In tarbiyah we focus on building the Sunnah character in a playful manner through telling stories from the Quran Majeed, ahadith and the lives of the Sahaba رضي الله عنھم. thereby aiming to direct them towards Sirat-e-Mustaqeem. We teach children about Allah (SWT), the way our Rabb wanted us to know Him; through Asma-ul-Husna. We encourage our students to read Qur’an like the Prophet ﷺ read it himself, following the same rules of tajweed. We strive to lead our students towards memorizing selected Surahs from the Qur’an Majeed and Sunnah duaas.

Language Arts:
Arabic, English, Urdu
The basis of the Language Art program at Islamic Preschool Lahore is the belief that language is a special gift of Allah to human beings. We as Muslims are responsible to use it to the best of our abilities in glorifying Allah and spreading his message inshaAllah.
Our Language Art program includes all experiences in the areas of speaking, listening, reading and writing. With a state-of-the-art curriculum, each of these areas has its own pattern of development and our fully trained and committed teachers provide experiences of growth in each areas.

Mathematics and numeracy:
Mathematical growth begins in infancy and continues as children develop mentally, physically and socially. Consequently, their concepts and skills in math grow and develop.
At Islamic Preschool Lahore, we aim to develop the child’s ability to reason with numbers while simultaneously developing their problem solving skills. We provide them with practical, hands-on and real life examples to achieve this purpose.
While learning math at IPL, we also reinforce the awareness of Allah (SWT) and His Deen by integrating into our math curriculum, Islamic concepts such as concept of Allah (SWT) as the only Creator, Adam عليه السلام and Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as the first and last Prophets of Allah, and of Salah five times a day, through various activities and in many different ways.

Sciences:
The running theme of all our science activities is Iman and Islamic values.
At this primary, yet the most important stage of brain development, we aim to introduce the child to a variety of sciences, which will put them on the road of life-long learning. We give them a flavour of basic biology, physics, astronomy and technology through hands-on experiences organized for our students throughout their scholastic development at IPL.

Social Studies and understanding the world:
The Social Studies Curriculum at IPL provides a practical environment for our students which integrates human knowledge and experiences (learnt through the lives of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, Sahaba رضي الله عنھم and Anbia عليھم السلام) for the purpose of Islamic living and citizenship education. This also implies commitment to working effectively with diverse people and to understand the differences in cultures, values and responses to various social, political and religious issues in the light of the Qur'an and Sunnah. Through the IPL Social Studies curriculum our students develop a critical understanding of the history, geography, economic, political, and social institutions, traditions, and values of Pakistan as expressed in both its unity and diversity. This kind of understanding about the world at large is also developed though the IPL Social Studies curriculum.

Social and Physical Development Program:
IPL’s Social and Physical Development Program plays a pivotal role in providing our students with the opportunity to gain greater social, emotional and physical awareness and to practice interpersonal skills as they learn and grow. Social and Physical Learning at IPL provides an environment of fun and games which inherently helps students develop the understanding, strategies and skills that support a healthier life style, positive sense of self, promote respectful relationships and build student capacity to recognise and manage their own emotions and make responsible decisions.

Visual Arts and dramatics:
While remaining Shariah compliant, we focus on visual arts, creative plays and dramatics that allow our children to explore their creative side consequently growing to become self-confident and expressive individuals.

Theme based approach of learning:
We use a theme based approach to create a positively conducive learning environment for our children. This facilitates active teaching and learning and enables our students to explore links between the different areas of learning (Integrated Learning). It also teaches them team work and responsibility.
