Providing the basic needs and rights to orphans and widows is a state responsibility in an Islamic society. However, the weaker ones of the society can be left unattended in case the state is unable to fulfill its responsibilities and the charitable ones have to step forward for their assistance.
It was strongly realized by the volunteers of Umar Farooq Welfare Foundation (UFWF) during their activities in Bannu that uncountable orphans and widows were forced to live a painful life and they were in urgent need of assistance. Thus a specific Assistance program was launched to provide them with much-needed relief. The assistance provided by the program not only helps widows overcome their problems, but it also gives relief to orphan children to a greater extent.
Bannu has a very large number of orphans and widows. Therefore, concerted efforts are made by the UFWF teams to identify the most deserving ones.
