Garrison Cadet College Kohat 5.21

Garrison Cadet College Kohat is Situated in Kohat. Foundation stone of the college was laid on 1st March , 1990 by the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Mohtarama Benazir Bhutto. A sum of Rs: 40 million was provided by the Federal Government for construction of the initially required buildings.The college was inaugurated on 10 May 1993 by the then Quartermaster General of Pakistan Army, Lieutenant General Muhammad Arif Bungash, HI (M), S Bt. Regular classes commenced in march 1993. Colonel Muhammad Idress Niazi (Retd) was the first principal.He assumed his charge in September 1992 and retired on 2nd December 1995.

Students are selected after through written test and physical fitness test.Test centers are in Kohat, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Multan, Karachi, Abu Dhabi. Cadets after selection are enrolled in five Houses Zangi, Ghazali, Ayubi,Ceena, Kayani naming after great Muslim warriors and scholars Noor-ud-din Zangi, Imam Ghazali, Sultan Sallahudin Ayubi, Ibn-e-Ceena, Justice Rustam Kiyani. respectively.

Each house has a House Master and a House Tuter which look after the cadets of house.they keep eyes on their cadets 24 hours .they select Cadets for various activities.Recommend their cadets for Appointments.House masters are assisted by a House Commander(student of FSc-II)and two section commanders(FSc-I).Each house has a Drill Instructor, a house Baba,a medical superintendent.

Garrison Cadet College, Kohat, has been established by HQ 9th Infantry Division, Kohat. The College is under the control and management of a Board of Governors, headed by General Officer Commanding 9th Infantry Division. Tenure of each member is three years.

Garrison Cadet College Kohat is spread over an area of about 85 acres. The college has a capacious Academic Block for 550 cadets, four hostels, well equipped laboratories of Computer, Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Language, a well-organized library an elegant Administration Block and a tuck shop. A barber shop, cobbler, tailor and laundry services are also available for the cadets. The college has a beautiful, spacious mosque where about 2000 people can pray at a time. The college has an M.I. Room (Dispensary) stocked with necessary medicines and equipment. College doctor and two nursing assistants look after health of cadets. The college has a number of playgrounds. These playgrounds are used for playing various games during the sports period. Regular inter-house sports competitions are held throughout the year. The college has a counsellor to look after the psychological health of cadets.
