Film & TV Department, NCA 4.51

National College of Arts is one of the most prestigious and top ranked Art education institute in Pakistan. Its degree is recognized by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and acknowledged internationally.

It was established in 1875 as Mayo School of Arts and was later upgraded as National College of Arts in 1956 with autonomous degree awarding status.

The Film & TV Department is the most recent addition to the college and offers a 4 year Bachelor Degree. This department was first of its kind in the country to provide formal training and education in the medium of Film and Television Production when it was launched in 2004.
Students are equipped, along with technical knowledge and operational skills, a broad theoretical base geared to encourage higher goals of academic study, research and experimental approaches. Critical thinking, issues of representation, and ethical practice of this discipline are an ongoing part of all the courses.

We envision ourselves as a much-progressed department in the near future. We not only promote our students at a local level but also encourage international exchange of Culture and Education. We aim at providing what are the best possible resources available, to the students and to encourage them to develop their skills with the upgrade over time. Also with the proficient efforts of every individual of the department we see Film & TV as one of the most developed departments of NCA that not only offers a bachelors degree but also encompasses a master’s degree programme for the students.
