DHQ Hospital Khaplu GB 3.59

The First Health Facility (Dispensary) in Ghanche district was established during early twenties where a dispenser deputed by the Maha Raja of Kashmir started to serve the population of this area.

In 1947-1948 this Dispensary was upgraded to A class dispensary and a Medical Officer from Army Medical Corp delivered services through this health facility .

District Ghanche came into existence in 1998 and the “A” Class dispensary khaplu was upgraded to 20 bed Civil Hospital, run by a Medical Officer along with a dental officer.

In Aug 2002 this hospital was re designated as DHQ Hospital and bed strength was raised to 30. After two months the first Medical Superintendent assumed his charges.

In 2009 the bed strength was raised from 30 to 50 .

Presently it is 50 bedded DHQ Hospital with the sanctioned staff of 30 bedded hospital.
