Explosion of knowledge is an important aspect of the recent Technological Revolution, which has ushered a new era, characterized by advanced scientific research and sophisticated technological devices. It is a sine-qua-non for a university to promote research and technology in a global context. It cannot afford to ignore any dimension or degree of advancement in the domain of knowledge.


The world media have been disseminating new research outputs of the Western scientists with regard to animal and human cloning an empirical and ethical fall out. However, cloning is one aspect of Genetic Engineering and, like other sciences, it is open to a variety of probable uses or misuses.

Mankind is afflicted by numerous diseases which, it has been observed are of genetic origin. These can be cured by effecting changes in the genetic codes of individual. Genetic Engineering enables us to tweak and expurgate all those components of the genetic codes that generate diseases. The diseased parts can be replaced by improved one thus improving the quality of life form. Such practices would eventually lead to healthy population resulting in longevity, higher productivity and greater prosperity of the society.

There would be other extended applications of Genetic Engineering to other fields of human life, which will be of great significance in improving the quality of life
