Biotechnology CIIT abbottabad 3.55

CIIT Abbottabad has launched BS Biotechnology program under the umbrella of department of Environmental Sciences from Fall 2012. The program offered will facilitate in establishing an environment of collaborative and reflective learning based on modern concepts of Biotechnology. The core competencies of the program are to develop skills which are both job oriented and problem solving.

The main thrust are of this program is to promote transgenic research in plants with emphasis on pest and disease resistance and to improve the nutritional quality of food. Initiatives have been taken to introduce in vitro biotechnology for the induction of stress tolerance in important crops and to transfer them to the stressed environment for commercialization. It further aims to devise protocols for mass propagation of important plant species to overcome deforestation, environmenal degradation, preservation of biodiversity, endanagerd and medicinal species.
The graduates will have the opportunities to be absorbed in an array of professional groups including agriculture, health, education, industry, veterinary, medical and environmental sectors.

At the moment there is an excellent market at home and abroad for the graduates.
