SOME IMPORTANT POINTS OF TAIJI QUAN

Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) is a scientific sport with a long history. Practicing Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) as a good exercise. It helps us to improve the physique and the will power; as a result, it can raise our work efficiency. For the people who are weak or ill, it can help in recuperation, accelerating the process of recovery.

Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) is an ideal health care exercise, fitting the physiological need of the human body. Why is Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) able to play this role in health care? Because it is a soft sport utilizing the whole body, and it emphasizes the training of thought - the will power, the brain, guides the movements of the whole body consciously.

When practicing, the whole body should be relaxed, and no part should be rigid; as a result, both the blood and Qi (Chi) in the body flow smoothly, and both the body and mind are delighted, attaining the goal of improving health.

Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) accords with the principles of balance and psychology and both of them are imbedded in the attacking of Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan). When attacking, it is most important to keep one’s balance and destroy the opponent’s balance.

While destroying the opponent’s balance, the practitioner should do so according to the opponent’s psychological situations. I think that is the reason why Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) is popular.

BENEFIT OF TAIJI QUAN PRACTICE

Conscientious and regular practice of Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) brings about a harmonious relationship of body and main. Benefit has been scientifically established in chronic problems of Neurasthenia, Neuralgia, Hypertension, Shortness of Breath, Asthma, Chronic Indigestion, Weakened Cardio Respiratory Functions, Naturopathies problems of emission and piles.

Significant improvement in hormonal balance and immunological function are also noted with long-term Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) practice.

Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) is performed as well as learned slowly. It is a long-term investment in oneself and practiced life long. The body is used as a weight to develop the gross muscles.

Attention to details of the form enhances fine muscle and joint control. The frequent spinal rotations in the long axis help to massage and relax the Para spinal muscle groups, improve spinal flexibility, as well as provide conditioned Posture that reduces the load on the lower back.

The relaxed modality of the exercise forms allows smooth muscular activity, well regulated breathing, tonic stimulatory actions on the cardiovascular system and a prevailing sense of calm while in a state of complete concentration.

Patients of chronic chemical dependency already suffer from a variety of medical and psychological disorders, and hence any relief from discomfort provides additional motivation towards continuing the rehabilitative process.

BENEFITS THAT ARE INHERENT IN THE EXERCISE CHARACTERISTICS INCLUDE:

Concentration and a distraction free mind.
Slow, uninterrupted motion, like a flowing stream, thereby facilitating locomotors coordination and balance.
Easy deep-breathing in harmony with body movements, resulting in a sense of well being and increased flow of Qi (chi).

TAIJI QUAN AN EXERCISE FOR THE WHOLE BODY

Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) is an exercise for the whole body, and it trains both the mind and the body. The waist is of primary importance, for it leads the movement of the four limbs, in practicing Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan). When one part moves all the other parts also move, with the upper and lower lambs following accordingly. All the points start move to their totality.

Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) is part of the rich cultural heritage of China. It is an art in which slow and gentle movements are embodied force. As a Chinese saying aptly puts it, “Inside the cotton is hidden a needle.” Its technical, physiological and mechanical qualities all have a philosophical basis. For learners, the guidance of a good teacher and discussions of the skills and techniques with friends are necessary, but the most important thing is persistence and untiring practice. Indeed, there is nothing like practice, and learners of Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) men and women, young and old, will get the best possible results if they keep at it all the year round.

COMBAT APPLICATION OF TAIJI QUAN

Many people, especially in the West, will be quite surprised that Taiji Quan can be effectively used for fighting. In fact the term “Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan)” means ‘cosmos Martial Art’. All great Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) masters since classical times have practiced Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) as a Martial Art and all Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) classics have discussed it as Martial Art; although the older texts often paid more attention to its function in spiritual cultivation than in combat efficiency. Among the various dimensions of Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan), those of internal force cultivation and combat application are necessary if you train Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) as a Martial Art. Without internal force a Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) exponent would have no stamina to last a fight and no striking power to subdue an opponent; without knowing how to apply Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) techniques to combat he would be helpless when attacked.

Manifesting the Yin-Yang principle of Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) unity, internal force and combat application compliment each other. If a Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) exponent has only internal force but no combat application, he may be able to give impressive demonstration of his power, but he would be unable to defend himself in a real fight. If he has only combat application but no internal force, he may be able to discuss the wonderful combative techniques of Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) intellectually, yet when involved in a real fight he may be easily defeated by a clumsy but mechanically stronger opponent. All styles of Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) are effective for combat.

STAYING HEALTHY THE TAIJI QUAN WAY

“it is the stiff old tree that snaps in the wind, while the blade of grass bend and lives to see another day”. This principle of Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) is associated with the Chinese scholar and mystic, Lao Tzu.

Based on this wisdom, Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) believes that suppleness does not come form muscle strength, but from the joints. Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) (Supreme Ultimate Force) is associated with concept of Qi ‘Chi’ (vital force or energy). Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) facilitates the circulation of the ‘Chi’ within the body to enhance health and vitality.

Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) can be considered a moving from of yoga. The movements (originally derived form those of animals and birds and later form the Martial Arts) are graceful, with smooth, even transitions between them. The focus is on breathing as a vital source of Qi (Chi).

THE HEALTH BENEFITS OF TAIJI QUAN ARE MANIFOLD:

Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) enhances blood circulation, facilitating organ health rather then just muscle strength.
In Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan), joints are ‘gates’, which control the energy moving throughout the body. Through a range of joint movement, especially those of the ankles and hips, Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) prevents and cures joint conditions, like Arthritis and Rheumatism.

Bad movements, in bending, leaning twisting one’s trunk, stress the lower back muscles and vertebrae that are intended to support the area, but not to bear weight. Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) teaches alignment, motor control, rhythm and how to move the trunk without twisting, elimination lower back stress.

Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) emphasizes the development of physical and emotional balance to remove tension and stress. Calm and tranquility is fostered by a focus on breathing and precise movement, which are good for Hypertension, Heart and impaired organ function.

Post traumatic stress syndrome is considered a deficiency in ‘Earth Chi’ Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) re-establishes that connection, physically and emotionally, aiding in faster recuperation.

Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) is good for athletes in particular, stressing on balance, coordination and relaxation, witch promotes strength and speed.

Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) is ideal for elderly. It improves balance, enabling them to guard against fall and injuries.

Taiji Quan (Tai chi chuan) promotes balance in diet, exercise, metabolic rate and toxicity levels, and an improved self-image, witch are important factors in weight management.
