Cholistan has enriched soil conditions and climate for the cultivation of Grapes.
The cultivation of the domesticated grape began 6,000–8,000 years ago in the Near East. The earliest archeological evidence for a dominant position of wine-making in human culture dates from 8,000 years ago in Georgia.

The state of Rajasthan (India) developed “Grapes Valley” there and they cultivated grapes at a large scale. The boundary of Cholistan is annex with Rajasthan so it has same soil and climatic conditions. Keeping in view their success story regarding grapes valley, our Government (Govt. of Punjab) declared our region that consist of three districts (Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan) as a “Cholistan Grapes Valley”.
Grapes require less water. The early maturing varieties (Pre Moon Soon) are successfully cultivating in the Cholistan zone. Which are “King's Ruby, Thompson Seedless, Perlette, Flame Seedless, Crimson Red, Narc Black, Summer Royal, Autumn Royal, Black Emerald”.
