9th Undergraduate Medical Research Conference 3.93

Peshawar Medical College (PMC) aims to be a unique institution for medical education. Undergraduate students pursuing an MBBS degree at PMC are mandated to furnish five internally approved research manuscripts prior to their graduation. This is an unprecedented step on part of a private sector medical institution in this country.

Our undergraduate research program was initiated at the time of admission of our first MBBS batch in 2006. Basics of medical research were introduced in structured lectures and students were allowed hands-on approach to learning by doing. Students were encouraged to evolve their ideas into scientific proposals after appropriate background search. These proposals were carefully supervised and developed into simple cross sectional studies. Once data gathering was complete, basic analysis was taught and carried out by students themselves resulting in inference generation. It was indeed a breakthrough for all of us at PMC to hold the “First Annual Undergraduate Medical Research Fair – 2007”.

Undergraduate Medical Research Conference is an integral part of College’s academic calendar. This time the Undergraduate Medical Research Department of Peshawar Medical College is holding its 9th Undergraduate Medical Research Conference. The theme of the conference is “Diabetes” which is in accordance to the yearly theme of World Health Organization (WHO). Students from different colleges and universities are requested to send their research abstracts related to the fields of Medicine and allied, Surgery and allied, Dentistry, Public Health, Basic Medical Sciences and Medical Education.
