Taba Elementary School is located in Barangay Taba , Carmen , Davao del Norte It is 3 kilometers away from Poblacion Carmen .Taba is
named after a native mestizo who was the chieftain of the area. The place was first inhabited by the native Datu Muslim called KALAGAN
with a few Christians.
It’s rather most mytical or historical since Taba was the only Sitio of Barangay Lapaz way back in 1937. The place was a jungle where no
motored vehicle could pass the area. The chief means of transportation was only through the banca through Tagum River and Tuganay River.
Datu Sumuko of Taba donated 30,750 sq.m. or 3 ¾ hectares of site for Sumuko Primary School in 1960, where the first school
building was constructed . Few years later there was a survey conducted by Engineer Leonardo Bosque last April 30, 1977.Survey
revealed that site where the old school was situated was owned by Minda De Porkan the wife of Mr. Talib F. Tuttuh , School Head .
Since Datu Sumuko was already dead the barangay people, PTA and Municipal Officials of Carmen decided that there will be another
donation both Sumuko and de Porkan families. They were willing to donate but Mr Narciso Antic Sr a resident of the same place
voluntarily donated 20 000 sq. meters or two hectares, one of which is for barangay site and another one for school site which we
are now utilizing.
In 1940 to 1990 the original name of the school was Taba Elementary School, but due to the DepEd Memorandum of 1990, the name
was changed to Felix Recopuerto Elementary School the donor, whose daughter is the wife of Mr. Narciso Antic Sr., the former
barangay captain.
A lot of opportunities through accomplished school projects coming from the Provincial and Municipal officials. A deed of donation

was executed by Atty. Casaway last July 11, 2009 through the initiative of the School Head and PTA officials in favor of the school and
barangay.
From then on, enrolment increased annually and more infrastructures were constructed that opens for employment of additional
competent teachers who can handle the challenges and enrolment demand.

Taba Elementary School has 9 teachers including the School Head. It also opened its kindergarten school. At present Taba
Elementary School produces professionals, which are exercising their professions in this barangay and other nearby communities,
provinces and other cities of Davao to meet the demands and challenges of times.
