BRIEF HISTORY –

ST. CATHERINE INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

In Mid-September of 2008, Engr. Elpidio J. Cardenas, Mr. Onofre P. Cuntapay with his wife Ms. Ruth Mativo-Cuntapay, and Engr. Erwin Yunzal who claimed themselves educators and school administrators in their own little ways established the St. Catherine Institute of Technology.

After completing all the needed requirements and everything went smoothly in accordance with their plan, St. Catherine Institute of Technology presently located at 425 M. Blas St., Hulong Duhat Malabon City, was registered with the Security and Exchange Commission as a Non–Stock Non–Profit Corporation. In consideration of its mission, “To Provide Quality Technical – Vocational Education in Skills Training for the youth of today and tomorrow imbued with work ethics making themselves reliant for gainful employment and entrepreneurship”, the founders sought the approval of the “ Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA),” the government agency tasked to supervise its operation.

Last June 2009, St. Catherine Institute of Technology opened the following courses with ninety five students.
• Computer Technician – CHS NC II
• Consumer Electronics Technology – CES NC II
• Computer Programming – NC IV
• Computer Science – IT-information Technology - NC IV
• Computer Secretarial/ Bookkeeping – NC III

Encouraged with the results of these efforts the founders thought it wise to open additional courses, in the following year. So in June of 2010, Automotive Technology-Automotive Servicing – NC II, Bartending NC II, Food & Beverages Services NC II - Hotel & Restaurant Services – HRS – NC II, FCCA – Finishing Course for Call Center Agent and Electrical Installation Technology EIM NC II, were also opened.

Today, to serve the less fortunate and the poorest among the poor, the founders of St. Catherine Institute of Technology is not requiring tuition fee per unit from their students. Instead, they are only required to pay a minimal amount for their miscellaneous fees.
