Shrine of Jesus the Black Nazarene of Capalonga & Parish of Saint Lucy 5.2

St. Lucy Virgin and Martyr Parish Church and the Diocesan Shrine of Jesus the Black Nazarene of Capalonga is an insignia of the deep faith and devotion not only of the Catholic faithful of Capalonga, Camarines Norte but also of those who came here since this edifice was erected in the early years of the 17th century, to pay homepage and ask for divine intervention through the miracolous image of Jesus the Black Nazarene of Capalonga. This church traces its beggining as a "visita" of Paracale in 1632 and became parish in 1634. From 1708, the first Bicolano priest, Bachiller Don Gregorio Cabalquinto was parish priest of this town for forty years. Since then, as people's faith grows and deepens, it emerged and became known as a place of pilgrimage for individuals from different towns, province and even races particularly Chinese devotees who found unique devotion to Jesus the Black Nazarene. This was solidified by the numerous witnesses of granted prayers and petitions to those who came here and offered sacrifices. This shrine therefore is not only a house of prayer but also an icon of the peoples' deep faith and the glorious love and compassion of God.
