Welcome to the facebook page of Pentagon Beach Resort & Veteran's Retirement Community located in Ichon, Macrohon, Southern Leyte, Philippines. Located just about 7 kilometers south-east of the province's capital Maasin, the resort is an ideal site for people who want to explore the Southern Leyte area and the surrounding islands in the Visayas.

The resort was established in 2004 by Cristina and Werner Staehli, and the resort operated until the arrival of Super-Typhoon Yolanda in November of 2013. The resort is now managed by Don Reider and his wife Mae Tindoy Reider. Currently the resort is undergoing repairs, renovations and upgrades, but is now open again for business.

To date, most painting as been done, starting from the main gate to the new fence at the other end of the resort, which was taken out by Yolanda. The also outside CR/Restrooms and showers have been painted and new native roofs have been put on each CR/shower. Most of the plumbing has been repaired, as well as all of the electric, and a new standby generator has been added for emergencies in case of a brown-out or black-out. All of the leaks (or most since we are still finding a couple of little ones) have been also been repaired. As stated a new fence has been put up along the south end and by the lounge, as well as a new gate to the beach. The landscaping is a continuous project but also has begun. The lounge is once again fully stock alcohol and non-alcohol beverages, and a karaoke machine has been installed. Refrigerators, chillers, microwaves, stoves, etc have also been installed and we look forward to having short orders in the very near future. New native bamboo tables and chairs have been ordered, and several of them have arrived already. During the typhoon, half of the restaurant/bar was blown away. After several discussions we have decided to let that half of the restaurant open and just put tables with umbrellas there. We also decided to let the remanents of Yolanda remain as a constant reminder of the natural disaster that took so many lives, so we all will never forget and will always be thankful for what we have.

The resort currently has three cozy beach cottages for day use or over night stays, as well as a lounge with a video karaoke machine. The resort can be rent for parties, birthdays and other events as just the venue or an exclusive where we will close the gate to all others. There is a fire place for barbecues which we are currently improving but can be used now, as well as several large tables and benches and an open kitchen.

PLANS FOR THE FUTURE:

Our plans for the future include several phases. The first stages is to repair, renovate and improve all that is currently here that your stay is 110% enjoyable. The second stage is to increase the size of the current cottages, as well as add to additional cottages, and include a CR/bathroom in each cottage and a kitchenette with a sink, small refrigerator, microwave, and small coffee pot/hot water heater. The third stage is to turn the home on the property into a hotel with five rooms, one two-bedroom suite, and a sitting area, all also for rent daily, weekly or monthly. Our fourth and final stage is to acquire additional land and construct homes for annual lease to honorably discharged US and Philippine Veterans as a retirement home. Also, during all of this, we intend to add additional beach activities as well.

As the resort will be focused as a beach resort and retirement community for Veterans, we will also be connected with a sister corporation called the Stealth Foundation, which is a non-profit corporation designated to assisting US Honorably discharged Veterans and American/Philippine children with medical, dental, vision, educational and US citizenship needs. In addition, the Stealth Foundation will also assist local Philippine children in emergencies.

During all of this time, you will be able to take advantage of major discounts off of regular cottage rentals.

We hope to see all of you soon at the new Cristina White Beach Resort. Please feel free to contact us at any time!
