Pablo Roman National High School (formerly Pilar Munincipal High School and Pablo Roman Memorial High School) is situated at the Municipality of Pilar an area of 1.14 hectares.
This school is a joint project of the former: Mr. Mauricio Q. Pizarro, Schools Division Supeintendent of Bataan; Tony P. Roman, Assemblyman; Mr. Romeo L. Mendiola, Municipal Administrator, Pilar; and Arch. Arturo Canare, Chief of the Provinvial Development Staff.
On May 3, 1981, a resolution for the establishment of this school was approved through the Sangguniang Bayan members, namely: Ex-Mayor Carlos Pizarro, Ex-Vice mayor Asuncion M. Samson, Mr. Fortunato P. Nuestro, Mr. Cesar P. Roque, Mr. Eduardo G. Paguio, Mr. Onofre C. Cruz, Mr. Perfecto B. Mariano, Mr. Pablo R. Silvestre, Mr. Dominador C. Carunungan, Jr. and Mr. Francisco Mangubat.
Its first year of operation was in school year 1981-1982, with a total enrollment of seventy (70) first year students only and three pioneer teachers namely: Miss Dalisay A. Enriquez, Mrs. Evelyn De Guzman and Mr. Cesar P. Castillo.
In the following school year, 1982-1983 enrollment was increased from seventy (70) to one hundred fifity (150) in addition of the second year curriculum. There were ninety (90) students in the first year and sisty (60) in the second year. Due to its increase in enrollement, the Division Office designated three teachers namely: Mrs. Evelyn D. Padilla, Filipino; Mrs. Violeta Pesa, Mathematics; and Mr. Jesser C. Gonzaga, Social Studies. Dr. Felicidad C. Sinio, private schools area supervisor was then the Officer-in-Charge.
One Practical Arts teacher, Mrs. May T. Diverson, was added in school year 1983-1984. There were ninety-five (95) students in the first year, sixty-four (64) in the second year and sixty-three (63) in the third year, a total of two hundred twenty two (222) students with Miss Rebecca N. Garcia, District Supervisor of Pilar as the OIC.
In its fourth year of operation,1984-1985, the enrollment was three hundred seventy-three (373) with one hundred seventeen (117) first year, one hundred fifteen (115) second year, eighty-three (83) third year and fifty-eight (58) fourth year students. There were two new teachers: Mrs. Fe J. Baquinquito and Mr. Ernesto R. Trajano.
The first Commencement was held in 1985 with the total of fifty-eight (58) graduates under the administration of Mrs. Ofelia D. Alcain who had served for two consecutive years as head of the school. She was transferred and promoted to Bagac Municipal High School as principal in the school year 1985-1986.
Mr. Cornelio O. Obillo handled the administration of the school in the school year 1985-1986 with a total enrollment of five hundred ninety-eight (598). There were five teachers added, namely: Mrs. Leticia A. Orpiano, Miss Lucila V. Quiroz, Mr. Jerry B. Diwa, Mrs. Selma S. Bangco and Mrs. Nora Vitug. In the same school year, Mr. Castillo and Mrs. Vitug were replaced by Mr. Vicente Guila, Jr. and Miss Jacqueline G. Canlas, respectively, due to their resignation.
Mrs. Leticia A. Orpiano was designated as the head teacher in the school year 1986-1987. Due to the increase in enrollment (six hundred seventy-nine (679) students), there was a necessity in creating four new positions. These were filled in by Mrs, Luisa M. Isidro, English; Miss Rowena Buensuceso, English; Mrs. Marietta O. Mendiola, General Science; and Miss Marissa Marteja, Biology.
In 1987, Mrs. Orpiano was appointed as the Secondary School Principal. With the enrollment of eight hundred two (802) students, new teachers were appointed, namely, Miss Lalaine Panganiban, YDT; Miss Josephine Cruz, Mathematics; Miss Emily Tuazon, Filipino; Wilma Jiongco, YDT; and Mrs. Lorena Guray, YDT.
Mr. Gerardo Manalaotao, Practical Arts; and Miss Maritess Macalinao, English; replaced Mr. Guila and Mrs. Buensuceso, repectively, due to their resignation while Mrs. Jeany V. dela Cruz replaced Miss Jiongco when she was transferred to Limay Municipal High School.
In November 15, 1988, a movement was made among secondary school heads. Mrs. Lucita L. Tanega from Luakan High School was transferred to this school while Mrs. Orpiano was assigned to B. Camacho High School. On the other hand, new teachers were Misas Mercedita Enriquez, Filipino; Mrs. Mercelita D. Diwa, General Science; Mr. Henry Ferrera, Mathematics; and Miss Catherine Tigas, Mathematics.
In school year 1988-1989, there were two hundred niety-nine (299) first year; two hundred sixty-one (261) second year, two hundred twenty-eight (228) third year and one hundred seventy three (1730 fourth year with a toltal of nine hundred sixty-one (961) students.
Pilar Municipal High School Was renamed as Pablo Roman Memorial High School in 1986 under Resolution No. 34, series 1986, in commemoration and honor of Don Pablo R. Roman, former Congressman of the Province of Bataan.
