The Holy Infant Nursery was first conceived in January, 1973, and was formally integrated into the Bacolod Youth Residences Program (BYRP) of the Police Advisory Council (PAC) of Bacolod City on June 1, 1974 through the initiative of then Chief of Police Col. Arcadio S. Lozada with technical assistance of then MSSD VI Regional Director Gloria S. Maliare.
On October 1975, the Bacolod City “Host” Lions Club through its President, Mr. Luis Lizares, who was an active member of the PAC, with the help of his members and other civic-minded individuals, constructed a P300,000.00 building at its present site on the lots donated by Mr. and Mrs. Vicente Gustilo, Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. Raul Torres.
On September 18, 1978, the City Council of Bacolod City, under the Sponsorship of Councilor ConstancioLegaspi, passed Resolution No. 6020 Series of 1978 approving the establishment of the Holy Infant Nursery and was given a monthly financial assistance by the City Government.
On March 15, 1979, the Nursery under the administration of the Holy Infant Nursery Foundation, Incorporated was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as a non-stock, non-profit charitable institution for orphaned, abandoned, neglected and destitute children from birth and up to six (0-6) years of age. It was granted by the DSWD its first license to operate as a child-caring agency on September 25, 1979, and accredited by the same office in 1982.
On March 12, 2003, the Holy Infant Nursery was registered with the DSWD FO VI as a social work agency and on May 13, 2003, it was granted its permanent license to operate under the category of Residence and Child Placing.
