(Short Bio of the main shooter of Galleri Felipe)
Felipe A. Fernandez, Jr. has been in photography since 1985. He took basic photography classes in Art/Photography Department at San Jose City College in San Jose, California.

He later became a Studio Assistant in the photography studio of Henson/Hathaway Photography, a commercial photography studio located in San Francisco, California. Here he mastered the skills to handle commercial assignments needed to produce photography for the advertising industry.

After several years of working in the commercial studio, he started Felipe Photography where he was able to secure work from Elliot/Dickens Advertising, an ad agency located in San Jose, California.

In 1995, after several years of doing commercial work, Fernandez enrolled in the Art Department at San Jose State University, also located in California, and concentrated on photography as a fine art. During this time, Fernandez also worked for Qaulex, a photo finishing company owned by Kodak, as a Production Manager. At this time, the photography industry was being swept by the digital revolution, and by 2000, Fernandez left Qualex and again enrolled at Monterrey College, also in California to learn Digital Photography.

Fernandez attributes the influences of Barbara De Genevieve, Reed Estabrook, Brian Taylor and Jim Goldberg, while studying at San Jose State University, in doing photography as an art.

Fernandez has been on the Board of Directors of the California Photographic Workshop (CPW) since 2001 to 2006. CPW is a professional photography school, certified by the Professional Photographers of America, providing workshops for the working professional photographers.

Fernandez has been in the Philippines since July 2006, and had successfully mounted three solo exhibits about Historical Preservation the whole of 2008. The first was at Bahay Nakpil in Quiapo, sponsored by EPSON; at Sy Quia Mansion in Vigan, sponsored by Mr. Luis “Chavit” Singson; and at the Instituto Cervantes, through the sponsorship of the Embassy of Spain. He did another solo exhibit in 2009, showcasing all his works at his own gallery, Galleri Felipe, which he established early 2009.

While doing the above, he also conducted his first workshop in the country, “Snap Shooting vs. Art Making” for beginners at Epson Bldg. in Ortigas 2008, sponsored by Epson. This was followed November 2011 with “Simplified Techniques for Quality Pictures” at Sta. Maria, Pangasinan, sponsored by Mayor Teddy Ramos, and Canon Marketing Phils. Due to big number of attendees, Fernandez embarked on the series of workshops the whole of 2012, with following topics, “Seeing the Light Part1”, an introduction to outdoor lighting techniques; “Seeing the Light Part 2”; an applied outdoor lighting techniques for wedding, fashion and products; “From the Real World to the World Fantastic, Part 1, 2 and 3”; an introduction to Photoshop, and getting the most of Photoshop; and “Let There be Light Part 1, 2 and 3”; an introduction to studio lighting techniques; and lighting techniques for editorial portraiture and products and fashion. The workshops were sponsored by RCBC, Coca-cola and LBC.

In 2013, Fernandez went back to the States to learn and update himself the latest on photography, and to polish more his craft.
2016 finds him again conducting photo workshop. His first for the year was last Feb, 28, also done in CB Mall in Urdaneta, Pangasinan entitled Over-Esposed or Under Developed”. More importantly, what Camera should I Get, and How Do I Increase my Income.?” He has lined up three more workshop for the year, to culminate on a Photo print competition.
