KASAYSAYAN NG “DOS MONTES RESORT”

Bakit “DOS MONTES” ang pangalan ng Resort na ito?

Ang “DOS MONTES” ay hango sa salitang kastila na ang ibig sabihin ay dalawang bundok.

Matatagpuan sa bayan ng Malilipot dito sa probinsya ng Albay, Pilipinas, ang dalawang bundok na pinangalanan ng mga matatanda na “Mt. Toktokan” at “Mt. Bulawan” (Gold). Nagsisilbi itong panangga (shield) sa daloy ng “lahar”, “molten lava” at iba pang “pyroclastic materials” na ibinubuga ng bulkang Mayon (Mayon Volcano). Sinasabi ng mga matatanda na kung wala ang dalawang bundok na ito ay malamang nagkaroon na ng malaking pinsala ang bayan ng Malilipot dulot ng malalakas na “volcanic eruptions” na nangyari noong unang panahon.

Layunin ng resort na ito na mabigyan ng pagkilala ang nasabing dalawang bundok (protective mountains) sa malaking papel na ginagampanan nito sa patuloy na pagbibigay proteksyon sa mga Malilipotenos sa maaaring pagbuga ng lava ng Bulkang Mayon, na itinuturing na isa sa mga pinakaaktibong bulkan sa buong bansa.
