The Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science (Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology) is a four-year degree program that includes a comprehensive grounding in health sciences and specialized training in medical diagnostic laboratory. It includes instruction in the theory and practice of Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, Microbiology, Parasitology, Laboratory Procedures and Quality Assurance Controls, and Laboratory Management, among others.

Graduates of the program, Medical Laboratory Scientists (Medical Technologists), play a major role in helping to diagnose and treat diseases. They conduct and/or supervise complex medical tests, clinical trials and research experiments; manage clinical laboratories; and consult with other health professionals and clinical researchers on diagnosis, disease causation and spread; and research outcomes. They may also further their education by entering medical schools. There are also many opportunities for post graduate study in one of the related health sciences such as Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Microbiology, Parasitology, and Molecular Biology.

The degree qualifies graduates for medical related employment opportunities in hospital laboratories, clinics, health regulatory agencies, public health centers, pharmaceutical and industrial firms.
