The then Barrio Batchelor came into being in the 18th century and was nam">The then Barrio Batchelor came into being in the 18th century and was named in honor of the late Captain Joseph B. Batchelor, an American service man in the Army Cavalry, who was known by his bravery, integrity and good leadership to the first settlers of the place who came mostly from Western Pangasinan, particularly from the municipality of Manaoag, while others came as far as La Union and the two Ilocos provinces. Eventually, in the 1970s, the place was divided into two barangays; Batchelor East and Batchelor West by virtue of RA 2370 which so provides for the creation of more
barangays.
