Barangay San Carlos, located in the Municipality of Mariveles, Province of Bataan, is a political subdivision of the government of the Republic of the Philippines, commonly known "local government unit" in the Philippines. It was founded in the 1970s by Mariveles Mayor Carlos Sarreal, after whose name the Barangay was named, during the incumbency of Philippine President Ferdinand E. Marcos. The Barangay has been one of the recepients of displaced residents of the Municipality from the Riverside Area, the latter being affected by the construction of the Bataan Export Processing Zone (BEPZ), the first among its kind in the country.

Since Barangay San Carlos is located at the heart of the Municipality, it now serves as the commercial district of the Municipality and the host of the Mariveles Public Market. However, the Barangay has the smallest civil territory in Mariveles, second lowest in terms of population, and second lowest recipient of Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA). Despite these facts, the officials of the Barangay is finding ways to increase the income of the Barangay by using alternative sources of funding and enhancing the tax collection from all the business establishments in the barangay.

Since 2007, the Barangay is continuously experiencing unceasing progress due to the concerted efforts of its officials and citizens with genuine concern with their own Barangay. San Carlos can boast for its active youth, united citizenry, well-maintained peace and order situation, and low poverty incidence.

The focus is now directed to the strengthening of institutions, maintenance of cleanliness, livelihood assistance, health and sanitation matters, disaster preparedness, mitigation and response, and public awareness and participation. With the aid from the Almighty God and with much hope, this will be achieved in the next years to come.
