U.S. Naval Medical Research Unit 6, was established in 1983 through an agreement beetween the Surgeons General of the Peruvian and U.S. Navies and with the
NAMRU-6 conducts research on infectious diseases that affect human health in Central and South America.
Acute infectious diseases with the potential to affect military operations are of particular interest.
