The Calipuy National Sanctuary is a Peruvian wildlife refuge created on January 8, 1981. The 4500ha sanctuary, adjacent to the larger Calipuy National Reserve, is located in the Santiago de Chuco Province of the La Libertad region in northwestern Peru.The Calipuy National Sanctuary, located high in the Andes Mountains, encompasses a variety of habitats. Prominent endangered and threatened species protected by the sanctuary include the puya and the Guanaco. Other animals living in the area include the andean wolf, white-tailed deer, vizcacha, kiula, perdiguero, chinalinda, guarahuau, and andean parakeet.
