Details

Via Ferrata, Italian for "Iron Road", is a series of iron rungs fixed into the rock face, supported by a safety cable which lets you scale the cliff face safely and easily. This was the first Via Ferrata system built in New Zealand and was constructed in 2003 over eight rock faces overlooking Queenstown.
This is a great introduction to the sport of climbing for total beginners. The Via Ferrata will enable you to experience rock climbing in a beautiful environment as you tackle fixed rung systems on your way up Queenstown Hill. There are various levels of difficulty suitable for climbers ranging from complete beginners to the more daring. You will be introduced to the rewarding feeling of conquering the physical and mental challenges presented by climbing.
Your knowledgeable and experienced guides will kit you out in your safety gear and provide you with a full briefing on how to use the equipment. Before you know it you will be towering over Queenstown, taking in views over Lake Wakatipu and beyond.
