The Pavilion, set at the heart of the wide-sweeping bay that looks over to Bluff hill and gives you glimpses of Stewart Island, is a unique establishment that mingles culinary dining with impeccable Southland hospitality. Established in 1937 by Ulric Smith, a member of Southland’s famous H&J Smith department store family, The Pavilion has a historic connection to the seaside village and owner Julie Guise has cleverly enhanced the welcoming aura when she transformed the Kiwiana Pub in 2005 into a stylish, sleek, family-friendly venue.

Our restaurant, café, and bar offer you waterfront dining in beautiful Colac Bay; just a quick turn off the Southern Scenic Route, which runs through Fiordland National Park, Milford Sound, and the Caitlans- some of the most spectacular places to visit in the world. This little bay is less than a 40 minute drive from the city of Invercargill, which provides an airport gateway to the rest of New Zealand. Queenstown is just over a two hour drive away from Colac Bay and the town of Riverton only ten minutes. Colac Bay is renowned for its surfing, swimming, trekking, and fishing of paua, mussels, oysters, crayfish and blue cod.

Come in for a coffee, lunch, dinner, or a drink and sample our menu of local specialties. The Pavilion is also the ideal location for your wedding, conference, or private function. We offer unique indoor and outdoor décor, menu options, and a courtesy coach for you special occasion.

Our menu features Southland produce and proteins that are dedicated to traditional flavor profiles. Our top-shelf bar includes a selection of imported beers and local Invercargill brews, as well as imported and local wines that complement our dishes.
