Come for a ride through the bush with us! Ride the rails on working examples of New Zealand's engineering heritage. Explore the sheds sidings, seeing many rare and historic locomotives, rolling stock and stationary items we've saved from around the region. Have a relaxing picnic lunch by the station. An enjoyable day out is waiting for the young and young at heart!

Passenger trains run on public Open Days held on the 1st Sunday of the month from April till December inclusive. There's someone around the junction most days if you want to have a look around and explore the sheds.

The Glen Afton Line is a heritage railway operated by The Bush Tramway Club Inc., a volunteer railway preservation group founded to save and restore steam equipment from the "bush tramways" of sawmill around New Zealand. This later expanded to locomotives from many other industrial sectors. We now operate passenger trains on the former coal mine serving Glen Afton Branch Line. We've slowly been restoring the decommissioned line and have nearly reached Glen Afton once more.

If you're interested in helping us, whether it be restoring locomotives, repairing track, trimming the bush along the line, selling tickets, putting out the word about open days, cooking sausages or of course driving the passenger train, come and talk to us. Young or old, we'd love to have you!
