The Little River Campground and Manaia Native Habitat host The Drum Festival annually. The festival is an intimate drum only festival set on the banks of the Okuti River. Celebrating drums from around the globe, with african, indian, arabic, asian and contemporary kits. The festival is open to any new performance or ideas so if you'd like to be involved get in touch.
Nestled in the Okuti Valley in a park like setting beside the Okuti River the campground is an unique outdoor venue for performances- from hand drums in the stillness of deep native bush to African rhythms riverside and the night time drum circle jam around the campfire. The weekend will consist of performance, workshops and campfire jams, dance workshops and camping. It's also a great weekdn to 'talk drums' with sympathetic folk. Camping is an extra $15. This is a boutique festival, so tickets are very limited.
The 2017 tickets are $25 for a day pass plus $15/adult for limited camping spots. ($65). Tickets are available http://www.eventfinda.co.nz/2017/the-drum-festival/banks-peninsula?utm_campaign=were-you-looking-for-events&utm_medium=click-through&utm_source=2016%2Fthe-drum-festival%2Fbanks-peninsula

The 2017 is yet to be finalised. Included in the program are the talents of Lisa Tui, Ra Mc Rostie, Doug Brush, Robert Fugah, Joseph Chitongo and Takumi. Special guest Chris Berry is leading a workshop and performs at The Hill Top.
The venue is tucked in the Okuti Valley, a sheltered west facing Banks Peninsula secret spot. Just 45 minutes from Christchurch city. Fun for the whole family and you don't need to know how to play the drums to enjoy the result.
