Details

Taharoto Sunrise is a new venture on Auckland’s North Shore who are offering a fresh approach to Rotary for those wanting friendship, business networking and a chance to contribute to the local and wider community.

Taharoto Sunrise is looking for people who want to play a part in establishing this new group and help to manage it grow. Everything we do is desgined to be fun and beneficial to those people who are not as fortunate as us. We propose meeting in the morning before work, initially on a fortnightly basis.

For more details:

• Taharoto Sunrise is a satellite group sponsored by Milford Rotary.
• The objective is to gather together a membership of like-minded 25 to 45 year old people in pursuit of giving back to their community through fund-raising, running projects that will benefit community groups young and old, networking with people in business to find solutions to community needs, and most of all having fun doing this.
• It is not all about dipping into your own pocket – it is more about volunteering an occasional bit of time and effort to find solutions for community needs.
• It does not follow the usual Rotary formalities or meeting structures and requirements – the satellite club offers a much more flexible and customized approach that should appeal to today’s busy young professional and community leaders - in other words it is informal and will start with a blank canvas.
• Its only link to Rotary is the requirement to pay an annual membership fee and remain ethical.
• The credibility of the group is based on following the high standard of ethics that Rotarians have become respected for, worldwide. These ask the following:
o Is it the TRUTH?
o Is it FAIR to all concerned?
o Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
o Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
• Once a founding committee has been formed, the group will agree on a set of key objectives and even a new name if deemed necessary.
• The group plans to meet fortnightly in the mornings between 7:00 and 8:30 which is a convenient time for younger business people – however this may also be revised by the founding members.
• It is hoped that the group will also embark on occasional social events to add that bit of fun.
BENEFITS
• Satisfaction that you are giving back to the community and helping people less fortunate than yourself.
• Building relationships with like-minded people, networking and making new friends, acquaintances and business associations.
• Personal development and people skills will grow when you get involved with other community leaders and like ideas. A valuable enhancement to your CV.
• Countless opportunities are available for you to lead, speak, motivate and learn from others when you get involved in the group’s projects and networking.
• You also have the opportunity long term to expand your global vision, contacts, and friendships, and enrich lives globally. You will be a welcome visitor at any Rotary Club or Rotary Satellite Club meeting, anywhere in the world.
• Rotary has played a huge role in the elimination of Polio worldwide. We are extremely close to our final goal of total elimination of Polio – our hope is that this will be achieved by mid-2018. You can be part of this momentous achievement. Google ‘Polio Plus’ for more.

WHAT DOES IT COST?

• A bit of your time, from time to time.
A membership fee to Rotary International of approximately $20.00 per month [invoiced twice a year]
