The Sir John Walsh Research Institute advances research and increases knowledge for the improvement of oral health in New Zealand.
The SJWRI is the host organisation for all research conducted in the Faculty of Dentistry.
Our research programmes cover the spectrum of oral health research, from the molecular level through biological systems to the health of populations.
Our research objectives include developing clinical research that translates discoveries into health outcomes, and to maintain fundamental research that underpins teaching.
The SJWRI is named for Sir John Walsh KBE, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry from 1947-1972, a strong advocate for research in dentistry and oral health.
