About Me

I believe that birth is a sacred journey and women who are supported to birth in a normal physiological way usually become happy, confident mothers. Therefore, I do my best to help women birth naturally. A natural birth can be very healing if you have had a previous traumatic experience. Sometimes women chose interventions (including Elective Caesareans) especially after trauma, and that is OK... I believe it should be your choice. Dads are vitally important and I commend Dave Owens for his work with Great Fathers! I support Attachment Theory and my role models are Michel Odent, Marianne Littlejohn and Ina May Gaskin. My favourite book is "Three in a Bed" by Deborah Jackson and my favourite quote is from Suzanne Arms: If we are to create a non-violent world where respect and kindness replace fear and hatred, we must begin with how we treat each other at the beginning of life. For that is where our deepest patterns are set. From these roots grow fear and alienation ~ or love and trust.


I have been an LMC midwife since 2003 and have had lots of experience with homebirths and primary maternity unit births as well as hospital births. I have lived in both Tonga and Cambodia and can still speak a little Tongan and some Khmer. I thoroughly enjoy working with my midwifery partner, Irene Hogan.
