A profile is kept on each child’s progress at Kindergarten. Teachers write learning stories on each child every term. These are discussed and reflected as a team for each child. We always share this
documentation with you and encourage you also to add to your child’s profile through a “parent voice”. You can write about a lovely family holiday or something your child has learnt or whatever you wish to share with your child.

Our aim and belief is:
To provide a quality education and a nurturing environment that meets the needs of the children and whánau who attend Plimmerton Kindergarten.
To promote the learning and development of each child by recognizing the importance of play as a valuable and meaningful approach to learning.
Children’s social, cognitive, emotional and physical development is embraced and nurtured by fol-lowing their interests.
To provide a place where children feel they belong, accepted and confident that they are important and where healthy friendships and social competencies are promoted.
All tamariki should be given the opportunity to develop knowledge and understanding of the cul-tural heritage of both partners in Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
For children to experience an environment where there are equitable opportunities for learning irre-spective of gender, ability, age, ethnicity or background and where diversity is understood and re-spected.
We believe in the importance of shared decision making, open communication and sharing of in-formation to enhance the partnership between whánau and Kaiako/teachers.
As Teachers, we are reflective and passionate about teaching and value the importance of appraisal, on-going professional development and we implement this into our daily practice.
To provide regular routines and consistent boundaries that creates a predictable environment where children feel secure and can participate in the daily life of Kindergarten.
We value the relationships with our immediate and wider community and acknowledge their con-tribution to tamariki’s learning.
For children’s emotional resiliency to be fostered in an environment where they are supported to work both independently and with others.
Fun, enjoyment and laughter are important aspects of Kindergarten Life and Learning.
