The philosophy that drives the Peace Out East project is Whanau Ora!
It is about Whanau being empowered to develop a plan for their future and to trust in their own solutions.
It’s about restoring to them their confidence in their capacity to provide for their own, and to take collective responsibility to support those who need it most.
It is an inclusive approach to working with family members to address issues that require multiple government agencies working together.
A new way to work with Whanau - a transformation in the way that services are designed and delivered, contracts arranged and the way that providers work together.
We stand in the strong belief that we need an improved system for assessment, planning and information sharing that supports coordinated action plans that is Whanau centred enabling real Whanau healing and empowerment.
Within our community health problems are often directly related to housing, income, education, transport, employment, nutrition and smoking cessation. The Peace out East Navigators will seek to work with individuals within the context of their Whanau using a holistic approach.
The Navigators will meet with all Whanau members to assist the development of their action plan and be a contact point throughout their journey.
Our focus is strengths based, evidence based, and outcomes driven with a focal point on building the resilience of the Whanau.
There is no one approach that works in isolation – meaning One size does NOT fit all.
The Peace out East Project requires collaboration with many agencies and services. Collaboration requires cooperation! So let us join up with you all to make a difference for our whanau, our hapu, our iwi!!! Peace Out East!
