Dogs' with behaviour problems, no manners, lack of social skills or just UN-cute are put aside for their more amenable or cute counterparts. Severely injured, unwell or needing emergency care. Dumped. With BSL in full swing this means that any dog appearing Pit Bull-ish is given a death sentence once in the pound and/or SPCA. Finding these dogs before they get to the local pound is important, so we need people to let us know when they see a dog in need.

There is no time limit on any dog in PAWS, they stay until they have a home, no matter how long that is. Sometimes though the trauma a dog has faced is too unbearable for the dog. Never would we make a dog live a life that they cannot enjoy, just so we don't have to face losing them.
Before the final step is taken we make sure they have had a chance to experience love, respect and human kindness, along with good food and a warm bed Ginny is often with them at the end, holding them and sending them on to doggy heaven where they will finally be free of their hurts.

PAWS advocates dog health & wellness, educates the public around the Animal Welfare Act, Dog control act and what a dog really needs to be a happy member of a family/pack. We work with problem behaviour, training and help people understand their dogs in their own homes also, not just with the ones in the centre.

PAWS is not here to make people feel better about letting their dogs down, treating them badly or not taking care of their dogs health care needs. We are the voice for all dogs and that means choosing the dogs welfare over peoples feelings, speaking up when no one else will, and not letting political correctness stop us from doing and saying what is right. No person or entity is immune to being held accountable for wrongful actions against animals.

Lack of personal responsibility and the laws willingness to blame the dogs' instead of the humans' irresponsibility is creating a slippery slope where dogs are being persecuted for the sake of human safety. But who looks after the dogs when this happens. We can no longer make excuses for human behaviour, we must hold people accountable and make them pay for their actions, not the poor dogs who were just doing what their human taught them.
