Our Strategic Goals
Lead promotion of local secondary schools and their students’ achievements through communication channels including our website and social media;

Lead and develop initiatives in collaboration with stakeholders that highlight available opportunities for young people;

Lead and develop resources and initiatives in collaboration with stakeholders that enable meaningful development of young people;

Lead conversations and initiatives which support employers to think about the type of workforce they will need for the future and how they achieve that.

The level of work readiness of Horowhenua young people has been identified as a key issue that needs to be addressed in order to prepare our workforce for the growth that the Horowhenua is experiencing. We deliver specialist employability mentoring across the District which informs and gives young people practical skills which they will use all throughout their lives. These workshops will include CV, cover letter development as well as core interview skills.

With the launch of Pathways Horowhenua there will be clearer pathways between education at secondary level, higher education and employment. The input of stakeholders is vital to the initiative which enables us to ensure we are delivering the right services which meet the needs of our community.

The Horowhenua will benefit by growing a workforce that is work ready and able to meet the demand of a growing economy. We have a unique and diverse community and by co-creating Pathways Horowhenua services together, we will achieve positive and successful outcomes for all.
