Recent surveys show the average New Zealander earns a little over $41,000 a year and spends 160% of that annually. This means that the average Kiwi is in debt and struggling to make ends meet. Since the Christchurch earthquakes the housing market has increased dramatically and people are finding it hard to even meet their rising rental costs, let alone dream of having a mortgage and owning their own home.

So what do we do about it? Where's the community action? How can first time buyers get on the property ladder and support their families?

We believe that building a community from the grassroots is critical to the survival of Christchurch and greater New Zealand. A community that thrives on living in warm, dry and comfortable housing that they own themselves, rather than rent off of others.
