We are family-owned, modern backpackers in the remote, peaceful and secluded area of Henderson Bay.This is a great place to base yourself and explore the area with numerous beaches like the famous Ninety Mile Beach, our ocean front walk to Henderson Bay Beach or Rarawa Beach. Enjoy easy swimming, shell collecting, great waves for surfing or kiting, fishing or sunbathing. Plan on a trip to Cape Reinga, try sandboarding in the giant sand dunes of Te Paki or just relax in the shade of the Pohutakawa trees in our big garden. Our Lodge is close to the start of the Te Araroa trail and other hikes in the area. So you can easily base yourself here and enjoy the area. We are well travelled and can provide you with plenty of local knowledge. The Northwind Lodge is available for weddings, retreats or private gatherings as well. Seasonal closing from June to August.
