Happy Cow Milk Company provides whole {non homogenised and standardised} milk from happy cows to cafes, farmers markets and selected grocers across Canterbury, New Zealand.

At Happy Cow, we're a little bit different from other milk companies. That's because we leave our calves {including the little bobbies} to stay with their mums until they are 10 weeks old and have been naturally weaned. Our philosophy: happy cows = happy milk.

We farm organically and sustainably, keeping our impact on the environment to a minimum. We don't own a farm, so our cows are nomadic {we milk them in a mobile milking shed!}. We move our small herd from field to field which means we are dispersing the nutrients from the cows over a wider area to create a lower environmental footprint. Come spring, we plant nitrogen hungry plants like barley and wheat, which we then use to feed our cows come summer.

And do you know what else we do differently? We sell all our milk in reusable glass bottles and milk cans.
