Back in 2008 I set out on a mission to make my twins 1st birthday cake. I was told by someone that because they were different sexes, I needed to make them separate cakes to celebrate their own identities. I don’t remember who that was (and to be honest I’m not sure I want to) but it has always stuck and each year from then on I have completed the annual challenge of making two cakes for my children. Since that day, despite the sweat, tears and a few swears I became hooked on cake making and continued to upskill with cake courses and online training.

In early 2013, I started MegR Cakes with the amazing support and encouragement from my family and friends. It was a dream come true and I was lucky to be able to open my first shop in New Lynn and work on a part time basis providing hand crafted celebration cakes to the public. However, due to a change in circumstances I closed the shop in January 2016 and am now working full time from my registered kitchen.

I pride myself on providing the best quality work, not just look wise but tasting as well. Being a self taught homebaker, it is really important to me to keep that home feeling which is why I always use the highest quality of NZ ingredients including free range eggs, Lewis Road organic milk/cream, Whittakers chocolate and Chelsea.

I absolutely love the challenge that each cake brings and have a huge amount of personal satisfaction when a cake is completed and delivered to the recipient.

I definitely believe that dreams really do come true but you have to put in the hard work.

Terms & Conditions
I require at least 7 days notice for all orders. It is advised to place your order as far in advance as possible to avoid disappointment. Please note that weekend dates usually fill up very quickly.
Payment: A 50% deposit is required to secure your cake order. Please note: until your deposit is received, your cake is not a confirmed booking.

Final Payment: The final balance is due 10 days before delivery/collection of your cake. I will be in contact around this time with a reminder.

Payment options: online banking or cash (sorry no eftpos) (online banking is not available on collection, only 72 hours prior to collection)

Cancellations: Cancellations to orders are accepted up to 2 weeks prior, with a refund of your deposit less a $50 administration fee. Your deposit will be non-refundable if the order is cancelled within 2 weeks of delivery/collection date.

Delivery: $6.50 - $30.00 depending on size of cake and area of delivery.

Change of Mind: I understand from time to time people change their mind and want to make last minute changes to their order. Whilst I will do my best to accommodate small changes, no major structural changes will be accepted within 7 days of delivery. Please note an additional charge may apply.
