Alastair McIntosh; owner and founder of McIntosh Builders Ltd, worked with his father from 1974 to 1985 working mainly on domestic and agricultural projects. With the cooling of the construction industries in the early 80s, Alastair then went to the Fairton meat works and built several houses in the off seasons.

In 1995 Alastair went to Australia for a year, and worked on several sites including the fit-out of Griffin’s university and the refit of a shopping mall in Redcliffs under Steve Brown Construction.

After returning home in 1996, McIntosh Builders Ltd was formed with the help of his wife, Dianne. With a strong background in all areas of building and good work ethic and skills, McIntosh Builders has gone from strength to strength with strong loyal employees and clientele that in some cases have built three new homes for over the years. At McIntosh Builders, we are always ready to take on anything that is presented to us and this attitude has created many opportunities over the years.
In the last 20 years trading as McIntosh Builders we have been involved in the construction of hundreds of new dwellings. Several of these were designed by architects from around the country, and they range in style from modest homes to complex multi-story dwellings. In recent years McIntosh Builders Limited has offered an in-house design and build package to meet client demand. With Alastair’s building experience, and our Architectural Draughtsman, he can draw and create with clients to come up with personalised practical homes to meet their individual needs, whatever the dwelling size.

John McIntosh, Managing Director of Commercial and Precast, started working under his dad Alastair, but gained a passion for commercial construction and precast resulting in the establishment of McIntosh Commercial Construction Limited in 2011 and McIntosh Precast Limited in 2012.

Over the years McIntosh Commercial Construction Limited has undertaken many commercial projects throughout the region. These vary from commercial workshops and offices, to new builds and renovations of school classroom blocks and halls, through to office fit-outs plus much more in between. Along with McIntosh Builders, Commercial has met with clients to design and create office spaces through to workshops specifically tailored to the clients’ desire.

McIntosh Precast Limited has worked in with McIntosh Commercial Construction Limited to provide the precast panels for their construction around the region. McIntosh Precast Limited has been heavily involved with the Christchurch City rebuild providing all sizes of panels – being decorative and plain, through to stairs and beams for many projects. McIntosh Precast Limited has also provided panels for a job that was undertaken in Scott Base, Antarctica.

McIntosh Painting was newly formed in 2016 and is currently working in conjunction with all three divisions of McIntosh Group, making the McIntosh Group more proactive in the construction industry.
