MAINZ is a faculty of Tai Poutini Polytechnic, an organisation with a reputation for quality programmes. At MAINZ, both staff and students share a passion for music. This makes a vibrant learning environment, something frequently commented on by visitors. MAINZ offers programmes in Foundation Sound and Music, Audio Engineering, DJ and Electronic Music Production, Contemporary Music Performance, Live Sound and Event Production, Music and Event Management, and Creative Enterprise. Our programmes are supported by the music industry and approved by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority.

We are proud of our extensive training facilities at our two campuses at 150 Victoria St in the CBD Auckland, and 191 High St Christchurch. We have recording studios, rehearsal rooms, an auditorium, MIDI suites, music instruments, and a wide range of live sound equipment. All our staff not only work at MAINZ, but also are professionally active in the entertainment industry and are therefore excellent role models for students.

We prepare students for the workforce so all our programmes have a high practical content. For example the Live Sound students are actively involved in running 19 separate gigs for the Smokefree Rockquest each year. Our diploma programmes are designed in such a way that students can go on to study at universities if they so wish.

In addition to the full time programmes MAINZ also provides short courses in DJing, song writing, lyric writing, Logic, and Pro Tools. Additional short courses can be arranged.

The majority of our students enrol with MAINZ after recommendation from past and present students, something we are proud of.
