Little River Craft Station
Situated in the Historic Railway Station Building, Main Highway, Little River.

Open 7 days a week (except Christmas Day and ANAZC morning)
9am- 5pm (summer hours). 9.30 – 4.30pm (winter hours)
The Little River Craft Station has been operating for over 20 years.
There are 26 working members who live locally on the Peninsula or from Christchurch.
The Craft Station hosts a huge variety of different crafts (each member makes or produces a different product).
Knitwear, jewellery, fabric art, patchwork & batik work, pottery, felt products and soap, baby wear, women’s clothing, agate art, preserves, wood work, soft toys, leather work, vintage jewellery art, cards, local souvenirs, vegetable seedlings and plants, cut flowers and fresh produce.
There is access also to view train memorabilia, local history items and displays of interest. These displays are regularly updated by the Little River Railway Trust.
There is also the opportunity on our community produce stand for local people to sell excess fresh produce for example eggs, berry fruit and nuts etc a commission applies. Contact the Craft Station member on duty phone 3251 320 or come down with your produce and fill out the form including your bank Account details. code, name and address, phone number to enable us to set you up as a Produce Stand contributor.


The Craft Station welcomes and accepts community fund raisers whereby the shop will sell on behalf goods etc with no charge to the group.
A commission on goods sold also goes back into the community and the Craft Station regularly sponsor prizes for The School Pumpkin Day, Little River Show Arts & Crafts, and other projects.
The Craft Station also runs an Information Station and has brochures, maps and books available to help travellers with their accommodation and travel requirements in Little River and over the greater Banks Peninsula area to Akaroa.

The Craft Station runs a School Holiday Craft Program as part of the Kids Fest Programme in July. We also sell tickets for the Flower Power Garden Tour in October. Fiona Waghorn runs these under the umbrella of the Little River Craft Station and she can be contacted onwaggie@xtra.co.nz if you would like to take part in either of these activities.



The Craft Station celebrates World Knitting Day and in 2014 ran a Knit a Hat for Baby Promotion with a get-together for an afternoon tea. 100 hat and bootie sets were knitted and given to the Christchurch Women’s Hospital to give to the new mums taking their babies home.
