NOW CLOSED ..Explanation of how HWNZ works...

Upon notification of a horse in need certain steps are initiated..

Step 1: A standard letter is sent to the horse/property owner advising of our notification and offering assistance should it be required.
(assistance we offer is determined by each individual case. If an owner is genuinely unable to maintain the horse satisfactorily, whether it be through owners ill health or just lack of knowledge etc we can offer temporary hands on assistance, education/advise or fostering / rehoming.)

Step 2: In the absence of any response from the horse/property owner, official forms will be completed detailing the horses condition & body score, present living conditions and any further needs & information which may be relevant. This will then be forwarded on to one of the Welfare Agencies (SPCA or MAF/MPI)

Step 3: HWNZ will continue to liaise with the relevant agency once again offering our assistance if needed re fostering/rehoming etc.
We will continue to communicate with said agency ensuring appropriate action is taken and a satisfactory outcome is achieved.
