Home of Harbour Rugby

North Harbour Rugby Union (NHRU) is a provincial union formed in1985 with its premier team in the Mitre10 Cup (formally ITM Cup). Their homeground is at the QBE Stadium in Albany with QBE Insurance being their principal sponsor.
The fourth largest provincial union in New Zealand in terms of registered players, there are 12 feeder clubs in the region - East Coast Bays, Glenfield, Marist, North Shore, Northcote, Takapuna, Helensville, Kumeu, Silverdale, Mahurangi and Massey. This also encompasses 350 primary & intermediate teams and 85 secondary teams competing in various competitions and tournaments.
North Harbour Rugby promotes the importance of children having fun whilst competing and offer a variations of the game which include rippa rugby, girls only rippa and both boys and girls tackle. The woman’s rugby also continues to grow in strength, participation and spectators.
North Harbour held the Ranfurly Shield in 2006 after beating Canterbury 21-17 at Jade Stadium in Christchurch and has produced 31 All Blacks. Franco Botica, Frank Bunce, Rico Gear, Ian Jones, Walter Little, Jonah Lomu, Glen Osborne, Eric Rush, Buck Shelford and Tony Woodcock to name but a few have all called North Harbour home.
