Hāpai Productions Tapui Limited was founded by Tanea Heke and Nancy Brunning in June 2013; "To support and create excellent theatre as Independent Māori Theatre practitioners, with a process we can excel in and to engage in partnerships with organisations who compliment our values" Our kaupapa/philosophy is: “Hāpaitia te kaupapa Māori, Hāpaitia te mana Māori, mā te auaha a ngā whakaari Māori me ngā mahi a te mātauranga Māori - Uphold Māori philosophical practices, Uphold Māori prestige through the creation of Māori theatre and the pursuit of Māori knowledge”
