Step off the beaten track and onto this hill country sheep and beef farm to experience real rural New Zealand in action. During this fun and informative half-day adventure, you'll get to:

* Meet your hosts – Graham, Anne, Caroline and Jo – and hear their personal insights into what life is like on this 4th generation, family-run farm.
* Observe a sheep shearing demonstration: watch the sweat drip off the shearers brow as they skillfully remove the long woolen coat.
* See the wools' journey from sheep to bale and get a taste of the wool industry in New Zealand.
* Head to the paddock and watch the shepherd muster a mob of sheep on horseback.
* Get up close with the farm dogs: learn how the shepherd utilises two different breeds of farm dog to move a flock of sheep, and observe how they work together to run the farm!
* Visit the historic 110-year-old homestead built from native New Zealand timber.
* Enjoy a classic Kiwi home-baked smoko (morning tea) with your hosts, surrounded by beautiful garden and bird-life.

You will be back in Gisborne in time to have a late lunch and enjoy the sights.

Waipura Station a 2100 acre sheep and beef farm just a ten minute drive from Gisborne city. These rugged steep hills carry 3000 sheep and 300 cattle. Chat with your hosts and ask all the questions you like as you view sheep shearing and mustering, watch the dogs and horses at work, and visit the historic homestead.

Visits MUST be pre-arranged as we are a fully operational farm and while we aim to cater to our visitors, can't always stop our day-to-day functions to host tour groups! Please just give us a call or send us a message prior to your intended visit and we'll see what we can arrange.
