Fanau Pasifika Kindergarten formerly known as Cambridge Street Kindergarten.

Term 4 2012 hails a new era for the first established kindergarten in Levin as we transition to a Pasifika service. Wellington Kindergarten Assn started to consider the idea of a Pasifika service several years ago, when leaders in the Pasifika community approached the Ministry of Education about the need for a service in Levin. The growth of the agricultural sector has seen many Pasifika families settle in the area over the last 10 years. As well as offering a Pasifika themed programme, we have a Pasifika teacher, who spends time visiting families and supporting them through the transition to kindergarten.

All kindergarten learning programmes are based on the New Zealand Early Childhood Education curriculum Te Whariki. This won’t change for Fanau Pasifika but there will be a bi-lingual approach taken to learning. We have children of all ethnicities at the kindergarten and our belief is that all of them will benefit from being part of a multi-cultural environment.
