Christchurch Bed and Breakfast, Designer Cottage, New Zealand, opened in 2001. The owner, Chet Wah, a Christchurch landscape architect, bought this 1900 private home for its vintage charm. He soon realised the significant history of the house which was once an important part of the early settlement of Christchurch's landscape.
The B&B, off Colombo Street, is closely surrounded by cafés, restaurants, shops, cinemas and The Colombo Mall. The walk to the city centre will give you a chance to admire some unique local street art. It is a great way to explore Christchurch city from within its community.

Our intention is to preserve as many character buildings as we possibly can, so we encouraged close friends in the neighbourhood to form a warm community. Your stay will help us to keep this established community together and preserve the cultural heritage of the area.

Designer Cottage will offer you a range of rooms that will feel like home, all tastefully decorated to match the era. The most popular options are our ensuite double room with private bathroom and our 2 bedroom self contained cottage for families or friends. An alternative option is our shared facilities rooms for double or single occupants. Please check our latest rates on our online booking system.
To make sure your stay is enjoyable, we would recommend this B&B experience to friendly visitors who are willing to further explore Christchurch's culture, history, landscape, community and food. A sense of place that can only be seen or experienced through the local vernacular.

“One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.” - Henry Miller. Experience Christchurch.
