Having been creative all my life, even as a young mum I had a 100 cubic feet wood fired pottery kiln, but wanted more, so, encouraged by family, the opportunity to go to Whitierea was the best thing that ever happened for my art. Majoring in fine metal in 2001 under the tutor Peter Dekkers, teaching to think outside the square yet applying traditional methods, I have continued to build my skills and feel very lucky that I love doing what I do and draw inspiration from our wonderful surroundings. Stories take on a permanent meaning if it is turned into a piece that can be passed down so building attachment to an heirloom.
