World BBoy Classic is the biggest 2on2 Breakdance Championship in the world

In the early 70’s The Bronx, New York gives birth to what we now call Hiphop culture. In a time and place marked by poverty and violence latin and african american youth assembles at “Block Parties” and “Park Jams” to display their DJ, MC and Breakdance skills. The Hiphop battles are an alternative to the violent battles between rivalry gangs.

World B-Boy Classic believes in the power of the Hiphop dance battle as a starting point for engagement, exchange and knowledge sharing. The dance floor is an open podium. Dancers show each other their skills their best moves and constantly transform the the dance to an art form that knows no equal.

One of the most important things within Hiphop and especially in Breaking is to have a “style and originality”. Just like DJ’s (looking for the perfect beat), MC’s (looking for the best punch lines), Breakdancers are always searching for the perfect moves and even more important an identity to call their own.

At it’s inception in 2009 World B-Boy Classic not only focused on the unique style and originality of the participants also the event itself was given some special features such as “the last chance qualifier” and the “round for round judges system”. In 2016 World B-Boy Classic takes place for the 8th time. The event has become a worldwide community of not only dancers and dance supporters but also DJ’s, MC’s, photographers, filmmakers and a growing network of World B-Boy Classic promoters.

In 2015 World B-Boy Classic presented 16 worldwide qualifiers divided over 5 continents. The winners of the Qualifiers all gather in Eindhoven for the final World Final weekend. The workshops, hip hop culture market, pre party and panel discussion transform World B-Boy Classic in more than just a dance final. Just like the first Hip Hop “Block Parties” in the 70’s World B-Boy provides space for the creativity, and innovation that the next generations within Hiphop culture are looking for.
