Adrar was founded in 1994 by a group of students and professionals. It’s aim has been to promote the culture and language(s) of Imazighen, and by doing so to contribute to a positive self-image.
Between 1994 and 1998, Adrar published its newsletter ‘Adrar-Nieuwsbrief’ (soon available for download on this website), and a book for learning Tarifit (the Amazigh variety spoken mostly in the Rif and in a number of European countries, especially The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany).
In 2011, Adrar -in association with Amazigh TV- started the production and diffusion of educational programs on the local TV channel SALTO 2 in Amsterdam, and in 2013 a radio program was intitiated to cater for discussions of topics with high social relevance, and the diffusion of Dutch language lessons.
